Secret Ingredient Cheese Scones recipe

Ingredients:

225g self raising flour.
55g butter.
50g grated mature cheddar cheese.
150ml milk.
Pinch of salt.
The "Secret Ingredient", Mustard.

Preparation Instructions:

Based on an old family recipe, these delicious scones have a unique and tangy taste, thanks to the secret ingredient, mustard.

Pre-heat the oven to 220C (Gas mark 7).

Mix the flour and salt together, then rub in the butter.

Fold in the grated cheese and stir in the milk to create a soft dough.

Add a touch of the "secret ingredient", mustard to create a unique and tangy taste.

Move dough to a floured work surface and knead very lightly. Pat out to a round 2cm/¾in thick.

Using a 5cm cutter, create rounds and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Lightly knead together the remainder of the dough and create more scones until it is all used.

Brush the tops of the scones with a touch of milk.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until risen and golden.

Cool on a wire rack before enjoying with butter!
