Ham and Cheese Scone Spirals recipe
This is a classic savoury scone recipe that could have pride of place on any buffet table.
Ingredients:
- 125g self-raising flour
- 90g grated cheddar cheese
- 60g ham
- 60g butter
- 1 egg
- 5 tbsp. milk
- Pinch of salt
Method of Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 220C and grease and line a baking tray.
Chop the ham into small pieces.
Sift the flour and salt together and then add the butter. Rub the butter into the dough until it resembles breadcrumbs, and then add the egg and the milk – do this slowly so that the dough doesn’t become too wet. The dough should not be sticky, but it should hold together.
Roll the dough out into a rectangle until it’s around 6 inches by 8 inches.
Sprinkle the cheese and the ham over the rectangle, and then roll the rectangle up from the long side until you have something that looks like a Swiss roll.
Cut the roll into ½ inch slices and then place them flat side down on the baking tray.
Cook them for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
