Cherry Scones recipe
Ingredients:
2 oz butter.
8 oz self-raising flour.
1 oz caster sugar.
2 oz glace cherries, roughly chopped.
1 oz crunchy wheatgerm.
¼ pt milk.
Preparation Instructions:
Rub the butter into the flour in a mixing bowl until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs and then stir in the caster sugar.
Mix in the cherries and add the wheatgerm.
Stir to a soft dough with the milk.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about ¾ inch.
Stamp out rounds using a 2 inch cutter , kneading and rerolling the dough until it is all used up.
Place the scones on a preheated baking tray, brush tops with milk and bake in the oven at 230°C/Gas mark 8 for 10 -12 minutes.
Leave to cool on a wire rack.
Serve immediately with butter.
