Apple Scones recipe

These scones are lovely and moist as well as being really delicately flavoured.

Ingredients:

  • 250g plain flour
  • 125ml milk
  • 50g butter
  • 4 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 1 apple
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Method of Preparation:

  1. Peel, core and grate the apple.

  2. Sift the flour into a large bowl with the salt, bicarb and baking powder.

  3. Stir in the sugar and then rub the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs.

  4. Pour in the milk and stir until everything starts to come together.

  5. Fold in the grated apple and stir until fully combined.

  6. Knead the dough for a minute or so and then pat it out into a flat circle of an inch or so thick.

  7. Score the circle into wedges and then place into the oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden and risen.

This recipe makes around 12 scones. Add in 50g of raisins for a different flavour or try adding a tsp. of cinnamon into the dry mixture.
